Victory Queen Carnival Events At a meeting of chairmen of all the queen carnival commitlees it was unanimously agreed to push ahead with individual queen committee events in addition to tlie collective events of tlie entire organization. All members of the organization are enthusiastic supporters of a vigorous policy, and practical evidence of this is apparent in the progress already, made. Au energetic band of voluntary workers is organizing a wide variety of entertainment, and it is confidently expected that the efforts will result in £100,(KM) being collected by the middle of May. The publicity committee has acquainted the public with Hie aims and details of the carnival drive, and it should be clear that the sum of £lOO,OOO aimed at is to be the contribution of the Wellington metropolitan area to the National .Patriotic Appeal of £1,000,000. H lias been decided to erect a large barometer in a prominent position in Hie t'il.v with tlie object of registering, each day, Hie relative voting position of the "queens.” Arrangements are well advanced for a big street day at tlie end of this month. It is expected that this will be one of tlie most spectacular processions Wellington lias seen. The support promised by numerous bodies and sections of the community is oil a generous scale. Members of the American, Canadian and Australian communities in Wellington will participate.
