PROVIDING FARM LABOUR
Work Of The Department Dominion Special biiKviia WANGANUI, February 12. The provision of adequate aud suitable farm labour was discussed in Wanganui today when Mr. 8. G. Smith, New Plymouth, recently appointed liaison officer in the National Service Department (Employment division ) addressed a public meeting held under the auspices of the Wanganui provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. Mr. Smith outlined the suggestions made in different, parts of the country for combating tlie problem, and said the National Service Department was anxious to help farmers as much as possible. Practical suggestions, even if they involved expenditure, would be welcomed by the department and given every consideration. It was lo the credit of the farming community that excellent results had been obtained from the drive for increased production. The coming year, however, might be more difficult, and because of shipping losses the Government had already warned farmers that less meat would go overseas.
