AWARD FOR BRAVERY

Courage shown by Mr. Leslie Waters Seagar in rescuing Mr. A. Ready from drowning at Wellington on October 4, 1940, has been recognized by the Royal Humane Society. At a meeting of the Wellington City Council last _ night, the mayor, Mr. Hislop, who is vice-pre-sident of the society, handed to Air. Seagar a certificate which has been awarded him by the society. Air. Hislop said that Mr. Seagar, at great personal danger, dived in to rescue Air. Ready who had fallen between a wharf and a ship. Air. Seagar’s reply was brief: “I only did my bit, ■he said.
