Dominion Special Service. HASTINGS, February 12. Another small yarding of beet was penned at the Stortford Lodge stock. sale today, the result being that last weck b sharply advanced rates were fully mam_ tninedl There were only two pens ot ox beef, and these sold well above schedule. Best cow beef averaged close on 3b/- a hundred pounds. The main entry of het ers in splendid order, averaged about 40/-. Well-finished cows showing quality averaged fully £9/15/- a head. There was only a small yarding of toO head of store cattle, for which l )n to a were on a par wit' l l ate ra t es ; W rce !f ea . A A Hereford cross steers, fairly gtowii, made £B/19/-, and two-year steers, small to medium grown, £6/17/6. Young A.A. empty cows, well framed and in good order, were passed in at £5/17/6. Sixtcennionth A.A. steers, fairly grown and showing breeding, made £6/4/-. A strong market wa evident for the top lines of tombs, but lighter-conditioned sorts were slower to trade. A yarding of 5000 store sheep was made up mainly ot lambs and ewes. Two-tooth wethers, medium grown and forward, made -1/'Extra forward Down cross lambs topped the market at 21/1, the best pen of whitefaced wether lambs making 20/8 and another good pen 19/7. Other pens off hill country and in good order for feeding ou rape brought 17/6 to IS/9, good medium sorts 12/6 to 16/8, small to medium and very light 12/7, and very small and in hard condition 8/-. Good pens of shorn tombs made from 16/8 to 18/-, but others were slow of sale, making much better buying than at recent fairs. Five-year-old’s mouthing splendidly, made 17/9, and others 15/- to 16/10; six-year-olds, mouthing quite well, made 15/6; two-tooths m good order, 24/6 for medium grown pens and 28/1 for a better grown line showing quality. Young mixed-age sheep made 22/6.
