Wellington Figures For Last Two Months

The milk committee reported to the Wellington City Council last night that milk sales for December, 1940, averaged 6986 gallons daily, 66 gallons (or 0.93 per cent.) below the sales for the corresponding month of the previous year when they were abnormally high because of a large influx of visitors to the exhibition. However, (he sales for December, 1940, were 1002 gallons (or 16.74 per cent.) above the sales for December, 1938, a more useful comparison. However, these sales were 1128 gallons (or 14.94 per cent.) above the sales for the corresponding month of 1939. The cream sales for January, 1941, were 17.59 per cent, below the sales for January, 1940, but well above the sales for January, 1939, namely, 8.55 per cent. Sales of milk to nearby farmers for January, 1941, averaged 139 gallons daily, compared with 273 gallons for the corresponding month of the previous year.
