DANGER FROM FIRE BOMBS
Apathy Noted In London
( Received February 11, 10.10 p.m.) LONDON, February 10.
The Lord Mayor of London, Sir George Wilkinson, in a speech said he wondered how much of the City would be left when his year of office ended. "Despite grievous losses, I still find appalling apathy regarding saving as much as possible from what remain.-, he said. “Buildings are still left un(enanted and locked up at night. Everything we neglect weakens us and delays victory.” The “Daily Express” asks where are (he firewatchers? A reporter toured the City, knocking at doors and ringing bells, and often obtained no answer. Premises near St. Paul’s were padlocked, while there were, still piles of wrecked wood on the sites.
A business man interviewed said that many still had not the slightest consciousness of the danger from fire bomb. They showed criminal neglect.
