POSITIONS Enemy Attack Smashed (Received February 11, 10.10 p.m.)
LONDON, February’ 10.
The Athens radio stated that the Greeks again repelled an Italian counter-attack against the newlywon Greek positions in the Kelcyra sector. The attack was completely smashed and the Italians were thrown into disorder. It added that the situation on the Albanian front continued to be highly satisfactory. The Greeks secured further vantage points, particularly on the central front.
All Athens night communique reports successful local operations anil says Greek aircraft without loss shot down three enemy planes. A small formation of R.A.F. lighters or. patrol in the Kelcyra area yesterday intercepted a large number of enemy fighters. In the ensuing engagement four CR42’s were shot down and several others badly damaged. One of the British pilots had to abandon his aircraft. He made a successful parachute descent and returned unharmed tc his squadron. A Greek communique states: “In restricteil patrol and artillery activities we took some prisoners. We shot down eight planes and all of ours returned.” Valona Bombed. LONDON. February 11.
A Benters message from Athens says that large formations of British bombers yesterday bombed the main road from Elbasati to Valona as well as the port of Valona.
In the northern sector the lighting is livelier than It has been for some days. British long-range guns which recently arrived in this area went into action between Pogradec and the Skbumbi river.
