WEDDING

Caldwell —Taylor

A quiet wedding took place recently in St. Andrew’s Church, Palmerston North, when Helen Kathleen, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Taylor, Palmerston North, was married to Charles Frederick Sutton, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Caldwell, Te Teko, Bay of Plenty. The Rev. John Hubbard officiated. The bride, who entered the church escorted by her father, wore a charming frock of ivory embossed satin made on fitting lines. The skirt, which was gathered to the long-fitting bodice, fell away at the back to form a graceful train. Her tulle veil fell in soft folds from a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a sheaf of St. Joseph lilies. The bridesmaids were Miss Betty Wilkie (Wanganui) and Miss Nan Michael (Tai-Tapu, Canterbury), cousin of the bride. They wore fullskirted frocks of cream organza, with delphinium blue velvet sashes. Delphiniums and blue hydrangeas formed their sheafs and flowers were also worn in their hair. The bridegroom was attended by Pilot Officer T, M. De Denne, Hastings, and Sergeant S. Parnell, Wellington, Messrs. D. P. Taylor and H. Gorton acting as ushers. A reception was held at the “Rosco tearooms, where Mr. and Mrs. Taylor, received many guests, Mrs. Taylor wearing a plum coat over a figured frock with hat to tone. Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Sutton, Auckland, uncle and aunt of the bridegroom, were present, Mrs. Sutton assisting Mrs. Taylor. She wore a navy ensemble. The beautiful threetiered wedding cake was made and presented by Mrs. Colin C. Aikman, an old friend of the bride’s family, and it carried the decorations which had adorned the wedding cake of the bride’s mother. The bride travelled in an ensemble of sky blue matt crepe with hat to match and navy accessories. Mrs. Caldwell’s home will be in Burnham while Lieutenant Caldwell is stationed at Burnham Military Camp.
