OBITUARY

Colonel G. F. B. Turner LONDON, February 3. The death Jias occurred of Colonel G. F. B. 'Turner, who designed most of the bombs used by tlie British in tlie last war. He was a member of the Military Control Mission to Germany in 1920-22.

He once said that the mission frequently warned the British Government that Germany meditated another war, and declared in 1935 that the idea that London could be wiped out in a night by gas or bomb was baseless. “I know something about gas,” he said. “I lived for days in France in areas drenched with mustard gas.”

The late Colonel Turner was 05 years of age, and served throughout the European War, being mentioned in dispatches and awarded the D.S.O. and two medals. He was deputychief superintendent of the research department at the Royal Arsenal from .1928. till 1930 and then became superintendent of the design department. He retired in 1933.
