Sir Harry Batterbee, High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Snd. returned to Wellington yesterday from Auckland. He will leave for Feilding today, visit Dannevnke tomorrow, and return to Wellington on Friday. Major J. R. Kirk. M.8.E., returned to Wellington yesterday from Auc land. Dr R M. Irwin arrived at Wellington yesterday from the south by the steamer express. Mr E J. Rishworth, of Cory-Wright and Salmon, Limited, has returned to Wellington from Auckland. The Hon. J. E. Mr. Baker has been stationed in Palmerston North since 1932, and was secretary of the Wellington-Manawa lu Adjustment Commission. Lieutenant W. Minchall, a member of the naval party that destroyed the mine found floating off the Coromandel coast last week, was educated in Christchurch, and was formerly a member of the engineering staff ot the Christchurch Tramway Board. He was employed as shift engineer in the Tramway Board’s power-house, and was in the Royal Naval Reserve at the outbreak of war. He joined the v nv v and has since been engaged iu degaussing ships, treating them to counteract magnetic mines.
