Funds For The War Effort
Sir, — The various power boards throughout New Zealand are holding many thousands of pounds representing the £1 deposits required from consumers before the power is turned on. We are likely to be using electricity indefinitely. The chances of reclaiming our deposits are very remote. Would it not be a good suggestion that this money be given as a gift or a loan to promote New Zealand’s war effort. I am sure, if it were put to the consumers, it would meet with a hearty approval. It would be interesting to know how much of such money is held by the various power boards throughout New Zealand.—l am, etc., CONSUMER. Napier, January 31.
