MEAT EXPORT SEASON
Increase In Killings Killings for export at New Zealand freezing works this season from October 1. 1940, to January IS, 1941, according to the returns issued by the Meat Producers Board, total 3.9<-.S-6 freight carcases. The figures tci the 1939-40 season (to January 10, L4O, tl nearest comparable date) were 2.340,044 freight carcdscs. oxaoiaq /■•nrLamb now total car cases (North Island 2.502,9 M South Island 1.059,152) compajed with 2,u>1,b44 careases for the comparable period last season (North Island 2J20.219, South Island* 631,425). e Wether mutton killings this season have 'been 49.363 carcases compared with 146.399 in the corresponding period of last year; and ewe mutton <0,024 carcases compared with 86.929. Frozen beef production has reached 58.711 quarters, compared with 16,064 m the corresponding period of last season.
