War In The Air
Sir, —Regarding your "News in Brief” item on page 11 of this morning’s issue, it is probably not generally known that in 1912 the Navy League inserted In its policy "Supremacy in tlie Air” as the second important plank in its platform, second only to “Supremacy on tlie Sea,” which has been the burden of the Navy League’s song since its foundation in January, 1895.
For 28 years, therefore, the Navy League "has advocated “Supremacy in the Air” side by side with ‘.-Supremacy on the Sea.” —I am, etc., R. DARROCH, Secretary, Wellington Nervy League. Wellington, January 30.
The paragraph referred to mentioned the fact that in 1911 the Master-General of Ordnance, who was in charge of aeronautics at the British AA ar Office, said: “AVe are not yet convinced that aeroplane or airships will be of any utility in war.”
