Sir, —If the situation confronting this county warrants tlie establishment of a Home Guard, why does not the Government lake the necessary action to conscript the. civilian population to provide a Home Guard of tlie required strength, also any other essential organization? Sucli action was welcomed by tlie people of Britain and would be similarly welcomed this country.—l am, etc., A NEW ZEALANDER. AVellington, January 31.
