OPENING OF EXHIBITION

National Art Gallery A new collection of 150 facsimile colour reproductions of old masters and modern paintings will be oflicially opened at the National Art Gallery, Buckle Street, tonight. 'This is the third collection of reproductions obtained by the National Art Gallery with funds granted for the purpose by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the first two collections having already been shown in Wellington. It comprises a comprehensive selection of works after the greatest artists of the Dutch, British, Flemish, Italian, German, Spanish and French schools of painting. The reproductions are of the highest, quality and give a faithful representation of the original paintings which belong to various galleries and private collections throughout the world and which consequently very few New Zealanders have an opportunity of seeing. The reproductions will later be made available on loan toother centres throughout New Zealand. The exhibition will be open daily at the National Art Gallery till February 28. The public are invited to attend the oflicial opening tonight. Lectures on the pictures in the collection have been arranged as announced, in the advertisement in this issue.
