DRAUGHTS CHAMPION
J. Gardiner, Nelson, Wins New Zealand Title (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 30. The New Zealand centennial draughts championship tournament concluded today, the new champion being J. Gardiner, Nelson, who, with a total of 20 points, was two ahead of the runner-up, G. A. Brown. The new champion had won the title previously in 1903, 1908, 1914 and 1928. Brown has been champion on six previous occasions. The handicap tournament was won by W. Davis, Wellington, the run-ners-up being J. Gilbooly and F. W. Graham, Dannevirke.
