TOAST AT KHARTOUM TO MR. CHURCHILL

LONDON. December 27.

British soldiers in the Sudan drank i special toast to Mr. Winston Churchill at Christmas. They were standing round a camp fire at a fort in Khartoum. This is how they toasted the Prime Minister: “A happy Christmas to the man who *l2 years ago stood within the walls of this British fort and now stands at. the helm of England—Winston Churchill.” Mr. Churchill served with the Nile Expeditionary Force in 1898, and was present at the Battle of Khartoum.
