Maori To Replace Rangatira The mishap to the Rangatira has made needful a rearrangement of the Union Company’s Wellington-Lyttelton express steamer service, and in the meantime extra sailings ivhicli had been arranged for over New Year and early in January have been cancelled. The damage to the Rangatira and how long she will be out of the service are not yet known. The company announces that the serri.ee from Wellington as from today, will be as under: — Maori, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7.45 p.m. ■Wahine, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 7.45 p.m. The Wahine was scheduled to leave Wellington last night, but because of the Rangatira’s mishap, she left shortly before 10 o’clock in the morning for I/yttelton, and left there again .last night for Wellington in place of the Rangatira. About 200 passengers had booked to leave Wellington last night in the Wahine, and the company was very busy yesterday in making arrangements to lessen the inconvenience caused as much as possible. These passengers will be able to make a daylight trip to Lyttelton today. . The Wahine is due iu port about 7 a.m. from Lyttelton, and will leave at 8.30 a.m. on her return trip. She will leave Lyttelton again tonight for 'Wellington. The Maori, which had been relieving the Rangatira till a few weeks ago, and has since been laid up at the Patent Slip, will recommission today, and leave at tlie usual time tonight for Lyttelton. Special sailings to assist travellers returning from holidays had been arranged for January 2,5, 7 ami 12, and for lhe present these have been cancelled. The Rangatira was also to have made an excursion to Picton on New Year’s Day.
