Mr. B. C. Ballard, official representative of the Commonwealth Government in New Caledonia, is now in Auckland after visiting Rotorua. He is on hi.way back to Noumea after reporting to his Government.

Mr. George George, who was director of technical education in Auckland from 1002 to 1922. and who now lives in Sydney, is revisiting Auckland. Since he left Auckland in 102he lias been associated with the motor trade in Sydney.

Sergeant .1. McKee. Wellington, is to take the place of Sergeant .JScarry. New Plymouth, who is being transferred to lake charge of the Alt. Albert police station. Sergeant M. E. Lyons, Wellington, was originally appointed to take the New Plymouth position.

The Rev. Andrew Macfarlane has been granted leave of absence by the Dunedin Presbytery from the charge of Mosgiel till November 30, 1.941, because of his appointment, to a chaplaincy to the forces. Mr. T. M. C. Hay/ a licentiate of the church, has been appointed to carry on the work during Mr. Macf.-irlane’s absence.

Lieutenant N. .1. T. Webster, N.Z.T.S., officer in charge number S military area, lias been promoted to the rank of temporary captain while in charge of the area. Captain Webster took charge ot the area in July when Captain R. H. Perrett, N.Z.S.C., took over his duties as chief instructor at the Wanganui wing of the central district school of instruction. Including his cadet service, Captain Webster has served 19 years and worked his way through the ranks to a comniissioii in the Taranaki Regiment.
