Hume Steel, Ltd.
The directors of Hunje Steel, Limited, report that the company has benefited from the industrial expansion during the year. Contracts in hand, are a record, and include a contract with the. SouthAustralian Government amounting to £505,000 for the supply of pipes for the Morgan-Why alia water supply scheme. The manufacture of pipes for this contract will spread oyer two years. Other important contracts, either directly or indirectly associated with defence requirements. will ensure a satisfactory trading result for the current year. The company has acquired from Hume Pine Company (Australia), Limited, a half interest in an asbestos deposit in the South Island of New Zealand. The deposit will ;be developed in the joint interests of the two companies. Hume Steels commitments to date in the development of the deposit amount to £14,524.
