AMERICAN CLIPPER
Arrival At Auckland (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 27. After several delays caused by unfavourable weather, the Amercan Clipper of Pan-American Airways reached Auckland from Noumea late this afternoon, carrying eight passengers and about 11001 b. of mail. Tlie machine will leave on the return journey tomorrow morning. Captain Nixon reported that extremely strong head winds were encountered on the first stage of the journey between the mainland of the United States and Honolulu. In anticipation of unfavourable conditions, however, the machine carried only two passengers and no freight. After an uneventful but slow trip it reached Honolulu in 22 hours.
Passengers who arrived from Noumea included M. A. Rapadzi and M. C. Vautrin, general manager and mine manager respectively of the Soeiete le Nickel, of Noumea, who are on their way to Australia. Others were Mr. G. Step, of Sydney; M. M. E. Rabot, Noumea merchant; Mr. W. .1. Mullahey, airport manager from PanAmerican Airways at Auckland, who had been to Noumea ou business. and Mr. G. Atherton, chief operator of the company’s radio station at New Caledonia. He is accompanied by Mrs. Atherton.
When the clipper leaves in the morning she will have 18 passengers, 7221 b. of freight and a quantity of mail.
