WAR PENSIONS
Not Prejudiced By Social
Security Aid
Any benefit granted under the Social Security Act would not prejudice a soldier’s application for a war pension, said the Minister in Charge of War Pensions, Mr. Jones, in a statement yesterday. Though the Government had passed regulations providing for the re-em-ploymcnt of soldiers by employers after the soldiers were discharged from military duties, in some cases the ex-sol-diers would be entitled to war pensions, the Minister said. Consequently forms of application for such pensions would be obtainable from any agency of the Social Security Department, and each application would l>e determined by the Wirr Pensions Board.
There must of necessity be some delay in dealing with applications and discharged soldiers in need of immediate assistance should claim a benefit, under the Social Security Act, as assistance. either for sickness or unemployment could be given under that Act.
