“MOONLIGHT IS SILVER”

Last Performance Tonight “Moonlight is .Silver,” the sparkling Clemence Dane comedy which the Thespians will present ably and skilfully in the concert chamber of the Town Hall, Wellington, for the last time tonight, takes its title from the tuneful musical number which is a feature of the show. This music was specially composed by Richard Addinsell for the London production, which starred such well-known players as Gertrude Lawrence and Douglas Fairbanks June. In the Thespian production, the parts played by them are capably handled by Myles Wright and Joan Airey. Myles Wright, portrays the impetuous, unreasoning and jealous Stephen Ronsard. and Joan Airey Rousard’s wife Josephine, whose foolish and innocent escapades while her husband is away in America form the basis of the plot. The slightly vacuous Charles Lankaster, possessed of an unerring instinct for the right thing at the wrong moment and an excellent foil for the. turbulent Stephen, is played remarkably well by Stan Vinsen, and Jack Maeleod, as Stephen's elder brother Gilbert, provides many unconscious comedy touches. Other players are Miss Hardinge-Maltby, as Dame Agnes Ronsard, 0.8. E.; Roemer Gair, as Barbara Dawe; Joyce Templeton, as Ddrry; and Glyn Tucker, as the butler. Throughout, “Moonlight is Silver” moves with spirit and zest. Eric Bradwell and Russell Reid arc responsible for the production, and also designed the sets. The stage manager is Ted Furby.
