58 FALSE ALARMS OF FIRE LAST MONTH
Wellington Position There were OS calls to fires received in Wellington last month. These consisted of -10 actual fires and 58 false alarms. The number of actual tires (hiring the current year totals 582, in addition to which there had been 33(5 justifiable false alarms and 163 malicious, a 25 per eent. increase on those of the corresponding period of last year. “The lire losses will be pretty heavy this year; it will be one of tlie worst for a long time.” said the. chairman, Mr. S. >S. Dean, at. yesterday’s meeting of flic Wellington Fire Board.
