UNUSUAL MOTH
Napier Man’s Discovery Dominion Special Service. NAPIER, February 10. A large, coloured Caragia moth was found on Marine Parade, Napier, this morning by Mr. G. H. Murray.. The moth, which is one of the largest varieties in New Zealand, is unusual because it has no mouth and no tongue. The insect lives on the fat ot' its own body. The coloured variety of this moth are rare in New Zealand, though they are found in fairly large numbers in the South Sea Islands. The green of this species, however, Is occasionally seen in country areas in New Zealand. The specimen found by Sir. Murray is fully grown, having a wing span of three Inches. It has been presented to the Hawke’s Bay Museum.
