House Reduced To Ruins

ONE OF OLDEST IN VVAIROA DISTRICT Dominion Special Service. WAIROA, February 10. Tlie homestead of the well-known Mnngarulie Station was destroyed by a spectacular fire yesterday. The twostoried building, which contained at least 10 rooms, burned so fiercely that within an hour it was reduced to ruins. The loss is estimated at about £lBOO. It appears that the lire broke out in the kitchen, on the lower floor, but its cause is not known. .Mr. S. Twigg, Napier, is the owner, and his son. Mr. C. Twigg, and the station manager. Mr. E. D. McNickcl, were visiting Wairoa at the time of the fire. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson were the other occupants. The building was one of the oldest, in the district. The homestead, outbuildings and effects were insured with the State Fire office.
