There is little market activity in any line except for wheat, in the Canterbury grain, seed and produce markets. Wheat continues to come forward freely. A few dun oats, for which merchants’ quotations are unchanged at 4/3 to 4/9. have been offered, but not many samples of Gartons are reported. Nearly all cocksfoot so far submitted has been poor, and it looks _ as, though growers may have difficulty in disposing of lightweight seed this season. Merchants are still offering up to 5/6 and higher for best samples of Italian ryegrass and from 5/- to 5/6'for perennial, but many growers seem content to withhold supplies in the meantime. White clover is unchanged at 1/- to 1/6. The potato market remains inactive with merchants still offering £3/10/- per ton. Growers are disinclined to break £4.
