Sir Crusoe In Hack Sprint

A rattling good performance was credited to the topweight, Sir Crusoe, in the hack sprint. He lay handy to the pacemakers. Gold Dale, 'Phenomenal, Autolite and Passenger early, and when Gold Dale drew clear of Phenomenal at the false rail, it looked as if he would not be caught. Sir Crusoe, however, ranged alongside at the hist furlong, and once he got to the leader he had his measure afterward, though Gold Dale stuck well and had the winner ridden out at the end. Phenomenal was able to run on into a fair third, with an outsider in Sky Limit fourth. The others never looked dangerous, Autolite and Passenger fading out in the straight, the best of the beaten lot being Lord Lynn, Punarua, Siglow and Areas. , The winner, Sir Crusoe, was bred by his owner, Mr. N. Clout, and is a halfbrother bv Defoe to Men MVa. Their dam. Hine Wehi. is a half-sister to Toxeuma. Sir Crusoe won his first race only a couple of months ago and in his only other start since also won over seven furlongs at MaUaWatu. He is a true Hurry On type and will win in open company.
