CROWD OF 12,000 THRONGS CITY

Dominion Special Service. WANGANUI, January 5. Wanganui acted host to 292 officers and men of H.M.S. Ramillies todaymen arrived by a special tram from Wellington and were entertained at luncheon at the racecourse. The city was nagged and several business premises displayed bunting in the Avenue. The visit of the British sailors atoused great public interest and the city was thronged bv a crowd numbering more 111:1,1 , 1 l.„ Ito. The visitors were welcomed by the mayor. Mr. Rogers, and members ol the City council. Mr. W. Morrison welcomed them for the country districts and Jr. Ilori Taknrangi voiced n welcome lor the Maori race. . Following lunch the visitors were taken for an observation drive ol the city and suburbs, later leaving lor Wellington by train.
