OBITUARY

Mr. F. W. Joblin The death occurred suddenly on Thursday evening at his residence, Waiomlo, Gladstone, of Mr. Frederick William Joblin, a well-known resident of tlie district, says a “Dominion” Special Service message from Masterton. Mr. Joblin, who was 53 years of age. went to the Wairarapa from Christchurch 23 years ago and began farming at Gladstone, having been invalided home after war service. He left New Zealand with the Sixtli Reinforcements as a member of the Canterbury Mounted Rifles. He was a member of the Wairarapa and Masterton A. and I’. Association and a patron of the Gladstone Football Club, of which he had been a vicepresident for many years. He was also a member of the Wairarapa South County Council, and of the Masonic Lodge No. 19. He leaves a widow and two sons, the Rev. Vernon Joblin and Mr. Ken Joblin.

Mr. F. G. Hilton

Mr. Francis Giles Hilton, 2.1 Gloucester Street. Wanganui, died on Tuesday, says a “Dominion” Special Service message. Mr. Hilton was in business in Marton for 28 years. During that time he took an active interest in the affairs of that town, serving for a long term as a borough councillor. He also took an active interest in the Presbyterian Church in Marton, occupying the office of elder. He retired from business 19 years ago and went to Wanganui to live. Mr. Hilton was also a Past Master of Lodge Ruapehu, Marton, and a life memlber. At the time of his death lie was a member of Lodk’e Wanganui, N.Z.C., and the Wanganui Royal Arch Chapter. Mr. Hilton leaves a widow and two daughters, Miss Beatrice Hilton, Wanganui, and Mrs. H. T. Guthrie, Palmerston North. He was accorded a Masonic funeral, which was largely attended, many brethren from Marton being present. The service at the residence and graveside was conducted by the Rev. A. Brash, of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. The pallbearers were Dr. G. H. Robertspii. Messrs. R. Withers, C. Graham, F. Haywood, C. Senic® and H. T. Guthrie.
