The New Year racing carnival concluded yesterday with the final day of the Auckland summer meeting and the wind-up also of the Stratford, Marton and Greymouth meetings. Oamaru held its one-day fixture and the Southland meeting opened in Invercarmll. At Addington, the Canterbury Park I rotting Club was favoured with fine weather for the second day of its meeting. Chief interest vesterday lay in the meeting ot Beau Vite and Beaulivre in the Clifford Plate m Auckland. _ Beaulivre was favourite in a three-horse field, but Beau Vite followed up his success in the Great Northern Derby and won like a true stayer Gladynev won the Nathan’s. Memorial Handicap stylishly and Lou Rosa confirmed the high opinion held of him by beating a strong field, including Doria, in the Royal Stakes. Aivakui won the open six and Kathbella scored over a mile in the Goodwood Handicap. . r v. t A feature of the Marton meeting was the success ot Mr. 1. A. Duncan’s horses, Laughing Lass, Ecstatic, Royal . ign, an , Win-s of Song, whose successes yesterday brought their total to seven for the meeting. Te Hai raced consistently at Stratford vesterday for a win and dead-heat. Night Dress won at Oamaru, Flame Queen at Greymouth, and Passaform took the Jnvercargi Cup.
