CHILDREN FETED

Christmas At Levin Memorial Home Christmas was a very happy time for the children of the Levin Alemorial Home, for not only were they feted but they gave enjoyment to others. The members of the staff were awakened on Christinas morning by carols sung by the older girls, and were very surprised to find in their rooms a bag containing presents from each child, mostly made by them. Miss Richardson, Aliss Hardie and Miss Douglas received a great thrill from this. The Alarsden School Christmas tree and party, which has been given to the children for many years, is something which they always look forward to. They were motored to Karori and back, returning laden with toys, having been entertained by the pupils. The Smith Family gave them a picture party at the Plaza, providing a tram to take them there and back. Air. and Airs. Walter Hodges gave them special trips to the Exhibition, and Toe H also provided trips to the Exhibition and Playland. The Commercial Travellers’ gift of £l2 is to be spent on outings during the holidays; £5 was received from the pupils of Alarsden Preparatory School. Others who have added to their enjoyment by gifts of money, cakes, sweets and parcels are Alessrs. Thompson Bros., Denhard Bakery, Mrs. Chisholm (Lyall Bay), Airs. Costley (Feilding), Airs. Yates. Mrs. Johansen, Airs. Henry Hall, Airs.' Du Pont, Toe H Women Helpers, Aliss Nathan, Air. Jennings, Aliss Young, Aliss Archibald, Airs. A. Aleek. Aliss McDougall, Aliss Barry, Wellington East Girls’ College, Junior Red Cross, Airs. AlcWhanuell and “Anonymous.”

Several of the girls have been taken by friends for a holiday, and to these and those who have given happiness to the girls the committee extends grateful thanks.
