Cooper—Killalea

St. Joseph’s Church, Aramoho, Wanganui, was the scene of a very pretty wedding recently, when Mary, youngest’daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Killalea, Aramoho, was married to Sidney John, third son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Cooper, Rugby, Warwickshire, England. The Rev. Father McHardy, S.M., officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass.

As the bride entered the church escorted by her father! she passed through a guard of honour formed by the Aramoho sodality of the Children of Mary. She wore her Children, of Mary mantle over a dainty gown of rich, white satin. ’The bodice featured a heart-shaped neckline, edged with line lace, and long sleeves tapering to points over the hands. The slim-fitting skirt fell gracefully into a long, oval train.’ The only ornament worn was a triple string of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom. The beautiful veil of white tulle, forming a second train, was held in place by two white gardenias. A bouquet of lily of the valley, white roses, rhododendrons and maidenhair fern completed a charming bridal ensemble. The bride was attended by Miss Jean Hamilton, Putaruru, and Miss Peggie Higgie, Fordoil, cousin of the bride wearing respectively pale pink and peach swiss emproidered anglais organdie. The frocks were fashioned in princess style with heart-shaped necklines, puffed sleeves and full, gored skirts. ’They wore dainty Victorian bonnets of the same material. The Hower girl, Anne Ruscoe, wore a quaint little frock and bonnet of pale blue organdie. They all carried bouquets of roses, sweet peas, carnations, and maidenhair fern. Mr. David Killalea, brother of the bride, was best man and Mr. Pat. Brennan was groomsman. During the mass Ave Maria was sung by Mrs. Bellringer and Miss C. M. Burr. Miss Burr was also at the organ. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Rendezvous. Mrs. Killalea, mother of the bride, received the guests wearing a navy ensemble with naw accessories. The bride travelled in a suit of amerieau travel tweed in green and grey tonings, with navy hat and accessories. A long fur stole completed her outfit.
