SWEDISH POLICY
Benevolent Neutrality Toward Finland (Received December 14, 5.20 p.m.) STOCKHOLM, December 14. The newly reconstructed Swedish Government has issued the statement: “We will give Finland human and material help, which have already spontaneously appeared, but will maintain our neutrality.” This is interpreted to mean that the Government will confine its assistance to ambulances and relief funds, and that it will not hinder private unofficial help of other kinds. It is officially stated that the former Foreign Minister, Mr. Sandler, tendered his resignation on December 2, the day before the German attacks! on him began. It is believed Mr. Sandler advocated fortification of the Aaland Islands, to which the Prime Minister, Mr. Hansson, is opposed.
