Choirs, string quartets and drama circles in New Zealand are offered good prizes in a series of competitions which will be conducted shortly under the auspices of the National Centennial Music Committee. Prizes of £125, £5O and £25 are offered in the choir competition, which is open to all choirs of not more than 40 voices, and of £5(l and £25 in the string quartet competition. A oneact play competition will also be conducted. District committees will conduct elementary contests during the early part of next year, and the district finalists will come to Wellington for the Music and Drama Week which will be held from Saturday. June 22. to Saturday. June ‘29. Intending competitors should communicate with the secretary of the music committee of the Wellington Provincial Centennial Celebrations Council, P.O. Box 1473.
