CONVERSION OF CAR
Taxi-Driver Placed On ' Probation 'Harry James Kelly, taxi-driver, aged 21, was placed on probation for two years when he appeared before Mr. Gouldiug, S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, yesterday, on a charge of unlawfully converting a motor-car, valued at £250, the property of Colin Ambrose, Kelly’s taxi-driver’s licence was suspended for the period of the probation. Detective-Sergeant IV. McLennan prosecuted. The case against Henry Petley, blacksmith. aged 21, who was jointly charged with Kelly, was dismissed. Kelly and Petley were remanded to appear in Otaki on a charge of stealing four gallons of benzine, valued at 9/4, the property of Walter Lloyd Jepson. Mr T P. McCarthy appeared for and Mr. R. L. A. Cresswell for Petley. Petley and Kelly pleaded not guilty to both charges.
