Allocation Of Total Vote
£5,000,000 FOR THE ARMY
The allocation of the sum of £9,750,000 estimated to be required for the fighting services of New Zealand for the remainder of the present financial year was explained by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, in reply to a request by Mr. Coates (Opposition, Kaipara), in the House of Representatives last night. Mr. Nash said that there would bo £5,000,000 for the army, £3,500.000 for the air force, and £1,250,000 for the navy. Among the main items of estimated expenditure would be: Buildings, £750,000; equipment and munitions, £1,800,000; pay and allowances, £1,600,000; clothing, £150,000; five new centres for training pilots, £2,000,000; aircraft equipment and bombs £600,000.
