WAIPUKURAU, September 26,
Sheep and cattle values generally showed a decline at the Waipukurau stock sale held today, but a small entry of prime heifers sold exceptionally well. Two medium-weight P.A.-Hereford heifers realized £ll/15/-. and two smallgrown £ll/11/-. Seven well-bred, aged I’.A. cows, only fair quality, realized £8 to £lO/10/-; and another pen, better on the whole, of P.A.-Herefords, realized £9/15/-. The stores consisted of drafts of two-year medium steers from Porongahau, the Herefords selling at £5/15/- and fourteen Hereford cross at £5/14/-. Eight prime wethers brought 28/6. Two pens of extra prime .Southdojvn cross, two-tooths, mixed sex, made 27/6 and 28/- respectively. Forty prime, maiden four-tooths made 25/10. A line of light wethers made 24/11. and good store woolly ewe hoggets made 26/8. A line of medium-grown, Romney-cross, medium-quality ewe hoggets sold well at 22/4, and 9!) similarly bred wethers, woolly, realized 15/1.
Firm Market At Woodville
WOODVILLE, Septemlwr 26.
A good yarding of yearling and springing .Jersey heifers and a smaller yaiding of fat cattle than usual were forward yesterday at the sale conducted in Woodville by'Abraham and Williams, Ltd. For good springing heifers and yearlings competition was keen throughout, the market being more than firm on late rates. Fat cattle made a free sale at late rates. , . . Small yardings of sheep itnd pigs met good competition. Prices are: — Cattle: Fat cows and heiters, £4 to £.B; springing Jersey heifers, £6 to £1(1 5/-; yearling Jersey heiters. well grown and good uunliiy. £ I HP- io £;>, 16/-. Sheep: Eat ewes, 20 - to 24/6: fat hoggets, to 2-1/6.
