WELLINGTON RUGBY

Fourth A Championship

The management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union last night awarded the fourth A grade championship for the season to the Wellington club. Petone scored most points in this grade, but lost four points through having included a player in two matches who was seven days over the stipulated age limit. Representative Honours.

Todd (St. Patrick’s College Old Boys)), with dating for 1936-37-38, L. Thomas (Onslow), A. Thompson (Wellington), and R. C. Veitch (Wellington), with dating for 1937 and 1935. Authority had been given for the dating of blazers previously awarded to the following:—AV. J. Fulton (Wellington), E. Griffin (Hutt), J. Gunn (Athletic), T. Hegglun (Poneke), D. Jones (Athletic), A. C. Kenny (Johnsonville), A. Lambourn (Petone), C. M. Ongley (Poneke), C. J. Pringle (Poneke), E. Sargisson (Hutt), E. AV. Tindill (Athletic), G. R. Wales (Athletic). A. H. Wright (W.C.0.8.).

The following players who had taken part in representative games this season had not yet played a sufficient number of games to qualify:—G. Burns (Johnsonville), one game this season; H. Craw-ford-Smith (W.C.0.8.), four games this season ; T. Dance (St. Patrick’s College Old Boys); three games this season) ; N. Dellabarca (Eastbourne), two games this season; T. Dwyer (Oriental), one game this season ; J. P. Eastwood (University), four games, one this season, three last season; H. M. Kirsch'berg (Wellington), two games this season ; R. Knowles (Petone), five games, three this season and ■two last season; A. McCarthy (Petone), three games this season; S. McNicol (University), five games, two this season and three last season; R. Sanson (Eastbourne), one game this season; J. R. Sherratt (Wellington), six games this season ; Vile (Marist Brothers O.B.). four games this season; A. Worboys (W.C.O.B.), one game this season. None of ■these jjlayers could, with the exception of Sherra'tt, qualify during the present season even if they were selected to play against Wanganui, assuming that that fixture was regarded as a qualifying match for 'blazer purposes. In Sherratt's case the injury sustained by him in the Wairarapa match made it doubtful whether he would iu any case bo fit toplay against ‘Wanganui.
