JAPANESE LEAVING CENTRAL CHINA
Manchukuo And Southern Area Reinforced CHUNGKING, August 1. Chinese are speculating why the Japanese are largely withdrawing their troops from Central China and reducing the number of air raids ou Chungking. Two divisions are known to have left for Manchukuo and others have gone to .South China, possibly owing to the tenseness of the international situation. Hong Kong reports that Chinese sources claim that national forces are successfully resisting a combined naval and military attempt to land Japanese troops on the coast near Wangmoon, 40 miles south-west of Hong Kong.
