Though the bleak conditions of last week were suggestive of the depths of winter, there is a spring-like spectacle of many wattle trees in flower in the Auckland district. Clusters of the trees at various points on the Great South Road between Auckland and the 'Waikato carry profuse blooms, the sight becoming even more common tn the vicinity of Hamilton, whore many wattle trees have l»eeu planted either for shelter or for beauty.
