PARTY AT MT. COOK
Members Of Parliament
By Telegraph—Press Association. TIMARU, July 31.
A party of Parliamentarians, led by Mr. McKeen, chairman of -committees in the House, spent the weekend at the Hermitage, Mt. Cook. The visitors made good use of the opportunity for ski-ing and ice-skating, for which conditions were splendid. The greater portion of the return journey today was made over a snowcovered road, numerous pine plantations presenting a wonderful picture. Several deep drifts were seen near Lake Tekapp, but generally speaking the winter has been an unusual one, snow being heaviest nearer the coast. At Ball Hut snow was about two feet deep and conditions there were admirable for winter sports.
