A Win For Texas Oil
Company
The July game of golf for the Gettogether Shield, which is competed for each month by the wholesale motor traders, oil companies and tyre companies, was held under ideal conditions at the Miramar links. The scoring on the day was particularly good, the winners of the shield for the month being the Texas Oil Company with an excellent total of 132 stableford points. Combined Tyres were second with 127 points, and Dominion Motors third with 126 points. The following are the results of match play:—-A. It. Itussell (Tyre Companies) beat R. S. Clothier (General Motors); S. Vine (Vacuum Oil Company) beat G. Wall (Texas Oil Company) ; W. H. Pringle (Texas Oil) beat S. E. A. Walker (Vacuum Oil) • A. W. Clouston (Dominion Motors) beat P. D. Daniell (Atlantic Union) ; A. PSlocum (substituting Tyre) beat W. E. Hill (General Motors); S. F. Martin (Texas Oil) beat E. A. Jones (Vacuum Oil); H. A. Hanson (Texas Oil) beat J. Stewart (Vacuum Oil): B. Mills {Atlantic Union) beat W. D. Gordon (Dominion Motors) J. F. Lawson (General Motors) drew with J. Batchelor (substituting Tyre); J. A. Barker (Dominion Motors) beat B. B. Brown (Atlantic Union) ; F. It. Commetti (General Motors) beat J. K. L. Webling (substituting Tyre); J. Hornabrook (Atlantic Union) beat H. McLean (Dominion Motors). The individual stableford competition resulted in H. A. Hanson (Texas Oil) scoring first prize with an excellent score of 38. S. Vine (Vacuum Oil) was a good second with 37 points, while J. Hornabrook (Atlantic Union)i A. P. Slocum (substituting Tyre), and A. W. Clouston (Dominion Motors) tied for third, with 35 points. Mr. W. D. Gordon (Dominion Motors) presented the prizes to the successful competitors.
