FINES FOR INTOXICATED DRIVERS

AUCKLAND, July 31
After a collision between a tramcar and a motor-car he was driving in Khyber Pass Road at 10.30 o’clock on Saturday night, Robert Janies Finlay, aged 29, carpenter, was arrested today and pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court to intoxication while in charge of a motor-car. The police stated that a traffic officer was a passenger on the traincar when Finlay's car struck it at an intersection. The traffic officer saw the defendant was under the influence of liquor and took him to the police station. The defendant was fined £3O and his licence was cancelled for two years. Jacob Hakopa Krepa, a Maori, aged 48, was fined £25 and his licence was cancelled for two years on a charge of being intoxicated while in ciiarge of a motor-cycle.
