“Eve” To Accompany “Adam” LONDON, July 21. The sculptor, Mr. Jacob Epstein has accepted an offer of £15,000 from Mr. Lawrence Wright, who recently purchased the right to exhibit his work “Adam,” to create an “Eve.’’ Epstein stipulated for an advance of £5OOO, and Mr. Wright has agreed to furnish it. “Adam.” the much-discussed recent sculpture, Is coining money in a sideshow at Blackpool, the Lancashire holiday resort. Fifteen thousand people paid 1/- each to view it yeste’day. “ ‘Adam’ is so lonely,” declared Mr. Wright. “So I have commissioned Mr. Epstein to sculpture ‘Eve’ immediately. “Before I am finished Mr. Epstein will lie the world's richest sculptor. ‘Eve’ will remain at Blackpool and perhaps ‘Adam’ will rejoin her after being exhibited at the "World's Fair. My estimate of the takings from the exhibition of ‘Adam’ —£20,000 —was pessimistic. I shall exhibit the sculpture to prove Epstein’s greatness.”
