Vice-Regal, Yesterday afternoon his Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Galway, visited Scots College, Rongotai, and presented tbe Earl Roberts Imperial Cadet Trophy and medals won by the College Cadet Company last year. Last night their Excellencies were present at the United Services’ Club ball.
Sir Jarnos Hutchison, editor of the “Otago Daily Times,” and Lady Hutchison, who are returning from a visit to England, are passengers on the Wanganella which left Sydney yesterday for Wellington.
Flight Lieutenant W. F. Parke, territorial force (retired), arrived at Wellington by yesterday’s steamer express. Madame Saidaigne. former lecturer of French at Otago University, died after a long illness, at Antwerp. Belgium; in the month of May. Mr. H. P. Harvey has retired from the advertising staff of the “Otago Daily Times” after 56 years’ service with the firm.,
Mr. A. Wyness. Wellington, managing director of His Master’s Voice (N.Z.), Ltd., arrived by steamer express from Christchurch .yesterday. Dr. J. W. Mcllraith, chief inspector of primary schools, returned to Wellington yesterday after a business visit to the South Island
Mr. A. F.' McSkimming, Auckland, has I>een appointed to judge the elocutionary and literary sections of the Greymouth competitions festival In August.
Mr. A. Osborne. Wellington, general manager of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation, left for Christchurch by tin 1 steamer express last night. Mr. A. Ulfsby. Rarotonga,. wa s .a passenger by the Matua when she arrived at Auckland. Mr. Ulfsby, who is a Norwegian, is making his first visit to New Zealand after spending 10 years in the Cook Islands. Mr. N. 11. Russell, secretary of the United Kingdom Manufacturers' and New Zealand Representatives' Association, and of the New Zealand Importers’ Federation, is to leave for Australia on Monday to confer with tbe Australian Association of British Manufacturers on trade matters
