The main causes of mainrnitis iu dairy cattle are 75 per cent, man, 10 per cent, milking machine, said Mr. Allan Leslie, chief dairy officer to the Federation of Taranaki Dairies, presenting a paper on the use of milking machines to the National Dairy Conference yesterday. The paper was prepared by himself in collaboration with Mr. W. G. Whittleston, research chemist to the New Zealand Co-operative Rennet Company. It stated that it was evident that ill-ad-justed milking machines were among the most potent factors causing udder troubles in cows, and emphasized the importance of correct adjustment and use of such machines.
