OVERSEAS TRAINING
Specialized Orthopaedic
Nursing
A remit that arrangements be made for nurses to be sent overseas for specialized training in orthopaedic nursing if they agree to serve in New Zealand hospitals on their return will be sent to the annual conference of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society by the Wellington branch of the society. A- decision to that effect was made by the branch at a meeting this week. Mrs. Knox Gilmer presided. The following executive was elected: —Mesdames Knox Gilmer (president), H. D. Bennett, F. C. Spratt, E. W. Hunt, F. E. Herbert, and Messrs. Ernest W. Hunt, J. Penman, and L. T. Watkins.
The following sub-committees were also set up:—Welfare committee: President, Mesdames H. D. Bennett, A. Gillies, F. E. Herbert, E. W. Hunt, F. C. Spratt. L. T. Watkins, M. Fraser, and Messrs. A. J. Hum, J. Penman, W. McLay, T. B. Gusscott. Medical referee committee : Dr. C. G. Kemp, Dr. A. Gillies, Dr. A. R. Thorne, Dr. Walter Robertson, Dr. Montgomery Spencer. Mr. Ernest W. Hunt wan elected treasurer Tue following remit is also to be forwarded to the annual conference: — “That the Wellington branch recommends and appeals to the New Zealand executive to make available the sum of £lO,OOO to be used for special, equipment in an orthopaedic hospital, provided that the building of such hospital, as recommended by the recent Royal Commission, is begun within 12 months from the date such offer is made.” Mr. T. B. Gusscott expressed the appreciation of the general committee of the excellent work done by the executive during the last year.
