Women’s Organizations’ Committee The women's committees of the Hutt Valley and eastern bays who are .supporting the women’s organizations’ queer., Mrs. R. Bradley, in the centennial queen carnival, held an exhibition of handicraft in the Horticultural Hall, Lower Hutt, yesterday. The mayoress of Lower Hutt, Mrs. Andrews, introduced Airs. Bradley. 'The mayor of Lower Hutt, Air. Andrews, congratulated the women’s organizations on their team work. Lady Pomare also congratulated the organizers. “Make up your mind you are going to win and you will win,” said Airs. Knox Gilmer. The women who were supporting the queen carnival would be helping to erect a memorial to their forebears. It was announced that Air. Andrews had given £5O for the women’s organizations’ queen. The official party comprised Air. and Airs. Andrews, in a rust frock and peacock felt hat; Lady Pomare, a floral silk frock, black marocain coat and wide black hat; Airs. W. Nash, a floral marocain frock and a black coat and hat; Airs. Bradley; tweed suit and rust-coloured jumper and hat; the mayoress of Upper Hutt, Airs. P. Robertson, navy ensemble and hat. The exhibition included a stand of articles which were sent to the Glasgow’ Exhibition by the women’s institutes of New Zealand, a large community quilt made by the members of the Shannon Women’s Institute, and a blue silk quilted cot-cover, which was made by a member of a women’s institute in Wales and given to the Dominion Federation of Women’s Institutes by Viscountess Bledisloe. The articles on the arts and crafts stall were the work of members of the Lower Hutt Townswomen’s Guild and women’s institutes' in the valley. The pewter, brass and poker work were outstanding and there were also 'exquisite examples of needlework. The Maori stall included fine examples of weaving and piu-pius. Airs-. H. Alitchell arranged the exhibits on the horticultural society’s garden circle stall, and Air. E. Hutt the’Hutt reserves exhibits. The entertainment was provided in the evening by the Maori Girls' Club, under Mrs. Al. Love, Airs. K. Lyle. Airs. J. Bradley, .Mrs. Pa rata Olsen and Airs. IV. Andrews. The vocal items were accompanied by Airs. J. AV. Andrews. The High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand, Sir Harry Batterby, and Lady Batterby, accompanied by their niece, Alis-s Biggar, were present in the evening. Air. and Airs. R. George played incidental music.
