NEXT SESSION
Meeting At Normal Time In June EARLIER OPENINGS FAVOURED Not Possible This Year An indication that Parliament would meet at the normal time, about the third week in June, unless something at present unforseen made it necessary to meet sooner was given by the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, in an interview last evening. This will be the first session of the present Parliament elected last October. Mr. Savage said he had hoped to arrange to bring the sessions of Parliament forward a few weeks. His sole object in doing this was to finish the business of Parliament well before Christmas, for be realized that Parliamentary sittings almost up to the end of the year must have a disturbing influence on holiday trade and business. “It looks as if it won’t be possible to meet earlier this year,” said Mr. Savage. “We have had so'many big problems to deal with that we. have not been able to give the question of earlier sessions of Parliament the attention it deserves. Parliament is not likely to meet before the normal time unless something crops up we cannot forsee.”
